RESUME PREPARATION

“Resumes ONLY get Interviews – Candidates Get Jobs”
– SO make your Resume WORK for you!

The following concepts may help in creating an impressive Employment Application CV or Resume and ensure you progress to the next stage:

  • Prepare a well-structured, informative Resume.
Your Resume should arrest the attention of any potential interviewer and include sufficient quantified detail that will ensure you secure an interview.
  • Provide accurate and concise detail in Microsoft WORD format.
Your Resume should include all contact and relevant personal details; education, qualifications and specialist training stating the Institution and Year achieved; any relevant industry specific or computer skills and licences and a short profile, career summary or career objective statement.
  • Detail all Employment Positions in reverse chronological order.
Your Resume should include details of all employment positions including the date range specifying Month/Year to Month/Year, Employer Name and Position Title with the most recent listed first.
  • Employment History Content.
For each company include a brief (3-4 lines) synopsis or profile and subsequently under each key position state Responsibilities in bullet point format and then special Achievements or Project Details, again in bullet point format.
  • Prepare a Covering Letter to the Consultant.
You should provide a covering letter or email to the Consultant stating why you are looking to leave your current position, your current package, your realistic salary expectation, your commencement availability, the target position and why an employer would engage your services in preference to your competitor candidates.
  • Work Permits or Visa Status if applicable.
Overseas candidates should include their eligibility for work in Australia, Visa Status and Classification and any pre-requisite considerations, sponsorship etc.
